The Discovery Award is a new major award, presented to Boys in S1, and represents for many the half-way point work in the Company Section's Discover Programme. For older Boys joining Company Section, there is scope to "fast-track" through the Award Scheme. Note
that these regulations are due to be
introduced in the Autumn of 2007 as part of the Discover Programme. A summary of the award requirements is
shown below. |
| Regulations for the Discovery Badge (from August 2007) |
| Awarded to members who show all-round
proficiency within the Award Scheme. The Discovery Badge will
be normally awarded to members in Scotland who are in S1 at School (or
older). |
| To qualify, a member must: |
| 1. Have completed at least 30 topics from the Company Section programme, having gained Recreation, Skills and Community Badges in the past 12 months. |
| 2. Take part in a residential experience (eg camp, holiday, sleepover, midnight hike, Crossover) |
| 3. Perform an active /visible rôle in a Company event, Battalion event, or Church Service or Event. |
| 4. Maintain a good attendance record for a minimum of 1 session. |
| 5. Be recommended by the Company Captain. |
| Note: Companies are advised to register young men as soon as they qualify for the award. |
