Canoe Polo

What is it?
This is a team game, which is a water-based version of polo, using canoeing equipment, played in a swimming pool.

Safety Message
Participants should receive appropriate coaching before playing this game, and should be good swimmers.

Ideas/Aims
Taking part in this activity you should:
• Have a sound knowledge of the game.
• Attain a reasonable proficiency in the basic skills of canoe polo, in order to participate and compete in a serious game.
• Show knowledge of the care and maintenance of equipment.
• Compete in appropriate club competitions.
• Show skills and an improvement in your standard of play.
• Develop an appreciation of tactics and positioning play.
• Be selected and play in a team, which has proper fixtures.

Review/Assessment
The participant should show the assessor how he/she has progressed in the sport, and what skills they have developed in order to play the game well. The assessor should ensure that the participant knows the rules of the game, and any equipment that they should use when they play it.
