Fencing

What is it?
The sport of sword play. This programme is designed to develop an understanding, and practice the basic skills, of fencing which are necessary to take part in the sport.

Safety Message
Participants will receive instruction on the use of safety equipment and safe practices as part of their technical training, and these must always be followed.

Ideas/Aims
• Learn and practice basic physical movement, this will include lunge, movement forward and backward using different steps.
• Simple and compound attacks using the foil.
• Defence involving different parries.
• Ripustes and counter ripustes v. preparations.

Review/Assessment
Assessment must include the understanding of and tactical use for fencing actions. Participants must demonstrate technical competence in performance and application.
