Fives
What
is it?
The aim of this game is to throw a ball at a wall, over five twelve set points.
The shape of the court derives from the side of the chapel at Eton College
and was introduced after World War II.
Safety
Message
Participants should receive suitable training before they commence the activity,
and should make sure that they wear the appropriate clothing.
Ideas/Aims
You should know something of the origins of Fives and be aware that there
are several different forms of court handball played in the British Isles.
Understand the rules of the form of fives
they play and be able to keep the score.
Be able to play the ball with either hand
with a reasonable degree of control.
Strive to develop a varied repertoire of
strokes and an appreciation of their correct use.
Be aware of what constitutes good court
manners.
Continually strive to improve your standard
of play. Participate in competitive events.
Review/Assessment
Assessment should be based on the standard of play, technical skill, knowledge
of tactics etc. also the ability to play as part of a team.
