Golf

What is it?
Golf is a game, which is played individually, against an opponent. The aim of the game is to tee off from the first tee, and get the golf ball in each of the holes, in as few shots as possible.

Safety Message
Participants should receive appropriate training in the safe use of equipment before playing this game.

Ideas/Aims
• Have a sound knowledge of the rules golf.
• Know what special clothing should be worn to play the game, and be aware that different clubs can require different clothing.
• Be able to keep score of your own game.
• Be able to keep score of others games.
• Attain a reasonable proficiency in the basic skills of the game.
• Participate and compete in a serious game.
• Show knowledge of the care and maintenance of equipment.
• Show skills and an improvement in your standard of play.
• Try improving your shots, by playing at a driving range.
• Aim for a national governing body standard.

Review/Assessment
Participants should show the assessor their skills in this sport, and their ability to drive the golf ball in a straight line. They should discuss the rules of the game and the participant should show the assessor their ability to keep score.
