Hockey
What
is it?
There are various different types of Hockey (field, ice, and roller). Hockey
is a team game, which is played with a hockey stick and ball, and the aim
of the game is to score points by getting the ball into the opponents net.
Safety
Message
Participants should warm up and cool down before and after playing the game.
Participants should receive adequate training in the safe use and care of
equipment necessary to play this game, for example, in Ice Hockey, it is necessary
to wear special clothing and a helmet.
Ideas/Aims
Be aware of any special equipment which should be used or worn in order to
pay the game safely. Have a sound knowledge of the rules of hockey. Be able
to keep score in the game. Attain a reasonable proficiency in the basic skills
of hockey, in order to participate and compete in a serious game. Show knowledge
of the care and maintenance of equipment. Compete in appropriate club competitions.
Show skills and an improvement in your standard of play. Develop an appreciation
of tactics and positioning play. Be selected and play in a team, which has
proper fixtures.
Review/Assessment
Participants should demonstrate to the assessor which skills they have developed
in order to play the game well. If they have entered any competitions, they
should discuss the results, and any tactics, which were played and worked
well in the game.
