Judo

What is it?
Judo is a form of martial art, which tests stamina and control. It is conducted indoors, on floor mats, and should only ever be taught by a qualified instructor.

Safety Message
Participants should receive coaching and training in this activity, should always wear the appropriate clothing and use the relevant equipment.

Ideas/Aims
• Receive adequate training in the safe use of equipment.
• Have a sound knowledge of the rules of Judo.
• Attain a reasonable proficiency in the basic skills of the sport, in order to participate and compete in a serious competition.
• Compete in appropriate club competitions.
• Show skills and an improvement in your standard in the activity.
• Develop an appreciation in the tactics of the sport.
• Gain a national governing body standard.

Review/Assessment
Participants should demonstrate to the assessor their knowledge of the rules of the activity, and their skills in it. If they have entered competitions, the results of those should be discussed.
