Keep Fit / Movement & Dance
What
is it?
An activity that promotes physical fitness and a positive attitude to health
through the use of a balanced programme of movement training based on Rudolph
Laban's analysis of movement. It promotes self-confidence through the understanding
and practice of movement and safe exercise, and their natural application
to daily living. It also encourages creativity in movement.

Message
Participants will be taught by qualified and registered Keep Fit Association
teachers, who will advise on clothing and footwear.
Ideas/Aims
The aims of the programme are to:
Obtain some understanding of the basic
principles underlying the KFA's unique approach to fitness.
Be aware of the physical, mental and social
objectives of the content of a KFA class.
Improve in fitness and personal performance
by experiencing KFA Movement and Dance/Dance Fitness.
You should be able to:
State why the warming-up and cooling down
process should be gradual and progressive and how this is achieved.
Move in a well co-ordinated way with rhythm
and flow.
Punctuate movements with a change of dynamics.
Identify the physical objectives inherent
in specific parts of the lesson.
Move with confidence in all areas of space
surrounding the body.
Demonstrate sensitivity to others while
moving freely in the general space of the working areas and/or when moving
with a partner or group.
Identify controversial and contra-indicated
movements.
Review/Assessment
The KFA teacher will set objectives, review and assess with the participants
in order to meet the above objectives. Those requiring information on qualifying
