Rounders

What is it?
Rounders is a team game, which is usually played outdoors on a field. The aim of the game is to score points by hitting the ball as far as possible, in order to run round the bases, without running another team player out, or being caught out.

Safety Message
Participants should receive adequate instructions in the safe use of equipment.

Ideas/Aims
In addition to playing rounders you should also:
• Have a sound knowledge of the laws of the game.
• Attain a reasonable proficiency in the basic skills of rounders; in order to participate in a serious game.
• Be able to keep score of the game.
• Show knowledge of the care and maintenance of equipment.
• Compete in appropriate club competitions.
• Show skills and an improvement in your standard of play.
• Develop an appreciation of tactics and positioning play.
• Be selected and play in a team, which has proper fixtures.

Review/Assessment
Participants should discuss with the assessor any safety requirements of the game, and how points are scored. They should discuss any fixtures played, and the results.
