What is it?
It is a handball type game (9 a side) played
on a court either inside or out. The ball used is a handball and two nets at
the correct angle are required. It is a skill-based game with no barging,
pushing or interception. Points are
scored when the ball is thrown at the net and the other side fails to prevent
it striking the floor outside the forbidden zone, which is a 3m semi-circle in
front of the net.
Designed as a game that anybody can play,
Tchoukball involves throwing and catching skills and movement around the court.
Participants should learn how to throw and catch correctly.

Understand Brandt’s ideals about Tchoukball (the sportsmanship
that is inherent within the game.)

Understand the rules of Tchoukball.

Understand the referee’s signals.
·
Understand the scoring system.
·
Play the game and show knowledge of the different positions.
·
Show an understanding of the basic skills and coaching points in
throwing, catching, switching, shotting, front line and second line defence.

Show a tactical awareness of offence and defence.
·
Show on court, an understanding and practice of the good manners
that are essential to the game.
·
Be able to watch a game and show an understanding of the
strengths and weaknesses of the players involved.
The participant should show the assessor that
they have an understanding of the rules, skills, positioning and the
sportsmanship that is involved in the game of Tchoukball.
