Volleyball

 

What is it?

 

A game in which players send a ball over a net. Players tap or hit the ball and must keep it off the ground. The game can be played indoors on a court and outdoors on a beach.

 

Safety Message

 

Participants should receive instruction from a qualified coach in the skills and rules of the game and how to use the equipment appropriately.

 

Ideas/Aims

 

Whilst playing volleyball you should look to focus on the following:

 

Develop technical proficiency and knowledge of how to perform the following skills:

 

·      Dig

·      Volley

·      Spike/Smash

·      Block

·      Serve (Underarm, Overhead and Spin)

 

Develop an appreciation of tactics and positioning (formations, movement, and positions).

 

Have a sound knowledge of the rules and be able to keep score in a game

 

 

Review/Assessment

 

Participants should show the assessor the skills that they have developed while participating in the activity and should demonstrate their knowledge of the rules. They should also demonstrate to the assessor their competence in the game and their improvement over the required period.
